List of moments Empty List of moments

Sun Mar 27, 2022 10:27 am
Dear Friend,

good morning.

In this days, as  everybody I'm facing few emotional challenges.  Instead to be involved in them, I started to make a list of all the magician and inspiring moments of my life.

It's really inspiring , I really invite everybody to do this. It reminds that life is magic!

Dear Fabio, Thanks for your post! Yes, it is always so important to keep our eyes open for everything in our lives we are grateful for, especially in times of challenges!. Tomorrow my son goes to Ukraine. He works as a data specialist for the International Red Cross...
I am grateful I have followed the dharma for so many years which helps me as a mother to face his going to a country in war with not too many worries and with trust.
I am following the sleep yoga teachings at this moment, guided by Tenzin Wangyal. I started last week and this is also a big support and I am grateful I can follow this.
Love from Marijke

PS Jim, are you still with us? In the beginning I didnot know how to answer posts until I found out that I had to login again! Anyway, I hope you are well!

Dear Fabio,
I wish you luck with everything. My wife started some years ago the practice of writing into a journal at the end of each day whatever she may be grateful for, and it has been helpful to her. I can only imagine such a focus may improve dreams as well. And even just being open to seeing the wonder and magic in things big and small, it's too easy to take so much for granted.

Dear Marijke,
I am glad to hear you are taking the sleep yoga course. I really enjoyed both the sleep and dream yoga courses I've taken with Rinpoche. May you continue to find good support through them. I think when we let the day help our night, and let the night help our day, this can be a huge support for us.
Also, I pray your son be safe and be successful in whatever he tries to do.

Regarding the yoga sleep, I want to share with you what happened yesterday night. I was observing the vision and, because was very late,
I fell asleep but kept a small portion of awareness. It was very hard to fix this very moment. To stay aware. So I tarted again to look at the vision and again I feel asleep. I'm sure that if I'm able to stay more aware a door will open.

A consequence of this experience is the following.
relative to old age, these days I see a lot of my friends who are getting old. My violin teacher is 85 years old, struggles to walk and is slow to understand, my mother and myself and my wife begin to see in the body and mind that everything falls apart.
However, looking very carefully, there is one thing that never changes. Whether you sleep, whether you are young, old, your body becomes corrupted, whatever happens, awareness remains immutable. Pure. Now I understand very well, really very well, why identifying and dwelling more and more in emptiness and awareness is the central point to which to dedicate one's life.
It is a subtle state, pure like water, bright and transparent.

Jim, it is good to hear from you again! And good to know you are still practicing.

Fabio, as for:
"However, looking very carefully, there is one thing that never changes. Whether you sleep, whether you are young, old, your body becomes corrupted, whatever happens, awareness remains immutable. Pure. Now I understand very well, really very well, why identifying and dwelling more and more in emptiness and awareness is the central point to which to dedicate one's life.

I like the reason you give, but I also want to share some of mine:
-to avoid making a larger mess than necessary out of my life and the lives of others
-to fool myself a little less often
-to waste less time and energy
-the fun of realizing which limitations are completely of my own creation and acting on that realization

Thank you for your posts, Bob and Fabio, for me there is also a lot to observe during the day for my sleepyoga like what exhausts me (more than I thaught...) and just sit and come back to spacious awareness and keep integrating this in my activities...

Hello good Sangha folk!

Hi Marijke .. I hope your son is safe in Ukraine. I like your comment "sitting and coming back to spacious awareness - and integrating with activities". I am trying to do the same.

Hi Bob .. I like to hear about "avoiding making a mess / less fooling myself/ less wasting time/ fun realising which limitations are my own creations". Sounds like good teaching to me.

Hi Fabio .. thanks for referring to "what does not change - pure immutable awareness". Brilliant teaching - thanks thanks my friend.

And me .. well - life goes on, and there are problems to face: many famous people in my life have various medical problems. I think lots about the awful war in Ukraine and the poor suffering people.

Spring is here - with much to do in the garden. I play piano and write songs - and I continue my daily dharma study and meditation practice.

BIG LOVE TO YOU ALL - from Jim in Wales

Hi Jim, I was often thing of you and the medical problems of the people around you. I'm so sorry, so sorry.

When the buddha says that life is suffering, he says something very true. Everywhere I look I see it. Fortunately, the experience of meditation makes it real that there is a deeper part of consciousness where suffering ceases. However, to be truly honest, it takes a lot of strength to make this connection stable. This is the true inner refuge. A big hug Jim, you are a good and kind man. You are certainly of great help to those who suffer.

I am always very happy when you tell us about yourself
