Cool! Thanks for the recommendation. I have not read that one of his yet, but two of his other books, Dream Yoga and Dreams of Light I thought were very good and show he is a good writer and has deep experience with this these things.

Thank you, Fabio! I just bought it and started to read it.It is a very clear and very interesting book and Jim, he is also a dentist who works several months a year in Asia as a volunteer, just like you did...
In chapter "fear of hardship" he talks about how we love our comfort and loathe any hurt or pain. His experience in Asia is that children he treats there endure needles and forceps with silent dignity whereas American kids are pampered and many of them are terrified of a dentist...
He says "What made the great meditators great was their unshakable ability to endure hardship and their resolve never to give up. When things got uncomfortable, they did not run and complain.
The Freudian principle of striving for pleasure and avoiding pain is the most fundamental principle underlying the ego structure."
I certainly can relate to the hardship on the spiritual path and also the wish to never give up...

Hi, i'm very happy you like It. You will see, when you will arrive to the end, how deep is this book. Differently from others books, this one describes the issue and problems we can face during the meditation and the spiritual journey. Very helpful. To me Is one of the best

Interesting coincidence: for those of you curious about Vedanta, a video dialog between the author of this book and Swami Sarvapriyananda ( a great Swami of the Advaita Vedanta tradition) just came out. It's wonderful. You can find it at the Vedanta Society of New York YouTube channel.

A buddy of mine introduced me to the "Headless Way" site recently: https://headless.org/
The quick experiments you can do are pretty fun and interesting:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi0BF0oGtw9PvKT9MP4pVIK4SsrqyISJR

I think the sense/feeling these experiments can generate is at the core of a lot of things we've talked about here. I find some of them are a very easy way to ground or reset my frame of perception. You could just read about the experiments, but that link to videos I found pretty cool. Each video is only about 5 minutes, if you're up for it I'd highly recommend watching the first video or two and following along. If you enjoy it, it keeps going for a set of 8 videos total.

Even if you already have a deep sense of this stuff, the presentation in the videos may still bring a big smile to your face.
